MIRAGLO FOUNDATION:
A Non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt Public Charity.
"Light, Love, and Service Without Borders"
How it Started
Founded in 2011, the Miraglo Foundation emerged from a powerful vision sparked by our founders, Rauni Prittinen King, RN, and Mimi Guarneri, MD, who had extensive ICU and cardiovascular disease experience, yet realized that Western conventional medicine excelled in acute care but fell short in disease prevention and chronic disease management. To that end, they created Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine, a holistic model of care in a conventional healthcare setting that embraces all global healing traditions.
After traveling to Africa in 2000 and to rural Southern India in 2002, they witnessed firsthand the devastating realities of extreme poverty, lack of education and health care options and food scarcity in developing countries. Deeply moved, they committed to creating lasting change by dedicating the foundation to serve the most vulnerable populations and to transform the education of clinicians.
The name "Miraglo Foundation" combines "Mi" from Mimi and "Ra" from Rauni, with the suffix "glo," short for global, symbolizing their commitment to serving the most vulnerable populations worldwide. Together, Mimi and Rauni combine their expertise and vision to form the bedrock of the Foundation's ethos.
