Mari Kelley Cows’ Project is a multi-disciplinary project that is dedicated to the sustainable development of local communities especially disadvantaged households. It is a non-political, non-profit Organization whose sole interest is improvement of the welfare of all humanity most especially the widows, orphans, elderly, people living with HIV/AIDS and people with disabilities.
The main objectives of Mari Kelley Cows’ Project are to help individual pastoral households or communities to build up lost herds and flocks in a sustainable manner; to assist beneficiaries to acquire new animals especially dairy cows; to acquire animals which will be used as a form of disaster relief as part of the rehabilitation process or as development effort.
The project will focus on dairy farming, tree planting and the use of the fuel saving stoves in vulnerable households. The restocking of animals will add on an income generating process.
The project plans to procure and distribute dairy cows to vulnerable families and ensuring that calves are passed as gifts to the next vulnerable families; support and enable local and disadvantaged families and the elderly people to participate in community education, through developing meaningful sustainable community based programs and initiatives.
It will facilitate the establishment of strategic partnership for local poor, needy and disadvantaged people with international development stakeholders focused to enhance sustainable livelihood improvement through promotion of active community participation and involvement.
The project will enable communities to actively participate in the struggle to enhance human development potential of individuals for better livelihoods; to encourage communities and individuals to participate in programs for eradication of poverty, ignorance, illiteracy and nutritional deficiencies; to educate and equip communities and individuals with knowledge about improved nutrition, sanitation and the benefits of environmental conservation.
